A new year and new art inspirations – Adkins Arboretum offers 400 acres of art inspiration. Adkins offer weekly art classes and workshops, from basket making, photography walks, pressed botanical workshops, to botanical illustration in the beautiful visitor’s center. Botanical illustrations have always interested me, they preserve nature in detail.
The visitor center has an art gallery. Currently, Lew Fifield and Christine Neill have their nature inspired art on exhibit.
I spend a over-casted morning exploring along some of the arboretum’s paths and was inspired.
Along the walk I found animals, birds, squirrels, bees hives and a wasp’s net. I wasn’t quick enough to catch a photo of 3 white tail deer.
Art is also place throughout the arboretum.
I’m thankful to dedicated volunteers that spend time to keep up this wonderful nature conservatory in the Chesapeake and thankful to visionaries like Leon Andrus, the arboretum’s first benefactor.
Please check out their website. Their calendar is filled with many interesting events.
