The Clay Bakers – An Adventure in Pottery

DSCN0206

I have always wanted to visit The Clay Bakers studio and I got a chance this weekend.  The Clay Bakers is “a paint your own pottery studio” where you can glaze pieces of pottery and have it fired.  It is a great place to explore the world of pottery.

The staff is very helpful and will walk you through the process.

First you pick a piece of bisque pottery.  As you can see there are a lot of pieces to pick from.

When you are wondering around making your selection you will discover little creatures peeping out of the white bisque.

Then you pick the colors of glaze that you want to paint your pottery from a myriad of colors.  There are stamps and stencils available to help with your creativity.

After you are satisfied with your painting, you give your pottery to the store staff.  They fire the piece and it is available for pickup in a week.

It was fun to watch people picking up the fired pieces that they had painted.  Their faces light up when they saw how their pieces turned out.

The studio Birthday parties are very popular.  The kids have fun painting their pottery pieces and eating cake.

The studio offer Ladies Night Out, Kid’s Night Out, ‘Tweent Night, and workshops in clay and glass.  The studio also offers classes in hand built pottery.

The Clay Baker also offers classes in fusing glass.

My next visits I am trying the glass fusing or the cool elements glazing on plates.
