It was a beautiful fall Saturday at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center in Grasonville, Maryland. The sea glass festival was very busy. I hope you also had a chance to visit the festival.
The artisans had creatively crafted jewelry and decorative items with the sea glass. There were baskets of sea glass available to purchase by the piece or by the cup full. Artisans were happy to explain about the sea glass and answer any questions. And kids were very interested.
Above is a necklace created by Dianne McLaughlin. Below is a one-of-a-kind ornament that contains 100% Chesapeake Bay sea glass created by a Chesapeake Bay artisan. The picture doesn’t do it justice.
It is amazing how nature has taken shards of broken glass that we have discarded and through currents and sand creates gems. Then, deposit these gems on the shore for us to find, admire and treasure.
There is a spring sea glass event, February 28 and March 1. Let’s will keep our eyes open for more details and mark our calendars.
Please support your local artisans.
